2016 Pinot Noir, RSM Estate Vineyard
Our RSM mountain vineyard is primarily planted to Dijon clone 115 with small amounts of Pommard and Dijon clone 667. The shallow soils and warm night temperatures result in small berries and concentrated ripe fruit character. Aromas of warm dark fruit huckleberries, blackberries and yeasty pie crust with hints of redwood forest floor and mushroom broth. Bold flavors of black cherries, blueberries, and huckleberries dominate with lesser notes of green tea and soy. The fruit is dense and mouth filling with a long and persistent finish of chalky cocoa bean tannins, delicate acidity, and a penetrating saline minerality. Aged in French oak barrels (33% new), for 10 months and filtered before bottling.
