2018 Chardonnay, Estate Vineyard
Fruit sourced from our organically farmed Handley Estate Vineyard. Soft on the entry, round, and full on the mid palate, crisp on the finish with persistent fruit. Prominent flavors of lime, crisp apples, toasted bread, almonds and hazelnuts. Fermented and aged in all French oak barrels (20% new oak). Only 40% of this wine went through malolactic secondary fermentation.
Wow, is all one can say, this wine is aging magnificently. Still pale straw in color. It has aromas of poached pears, lemon curd, and notes of caramel. It is full bodied with a luxurious mouthfeel. Flavors of fuji apples, bosc pears, and toasted almonds. Barrel character has toned down showing slight notes of nutmeg. Acid is noticeable, framing the long fruit finish. An affordable way to experience an American expression of a great Burgundian chardonnay. Enjoy now while this wine is in its prime.
