2023 Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley
A blend from five vineyards, Handley Winery Estate (44.5%), RSM Estate (25.4%), Helluva (19.5%), Rodrick Ranch (9%), and Lost Creek (8.3%). Mix of clones including Dijon 115, Dijon 777, Dijon 667, Pommard, Martini, and Wadenswil, Vineyards spanning the valley from the warmer reaches near Boonville to the cooler Deep End. Wet winter provided good soil moisture and a return to normal yields. Cool weather throughout the growing season resulted in longer hang times and a later harvest date. Fruit ripened at lower brix with good amounts of natural acidity. A rich and savory wine that is medium bodied, transparent, and fruit forward. Aromas of strawberry rhubarb pie with a dollop of crème fresh and wafts of violets. Flavors of red cherries, raspberries, caramel, and cardamom. Lively acidity with structured tannins. Delicate and elegant, refreshing now but built to last. Aged for 10 months in all French Oak barrels (25% new).
