2014 Pinot Noir Helluva Vineyard, Anderson Valley

Pinot Noir
Helluva Vineyard, Anderson Valley

Helluva Vineyard is located at the warmer end of the valley near Boonville. It is one of the older plantings of Pinot Noir in Anderson Valley. It has been a major part of Anderson Valley blend for many years and recently has become a standout single vineyard offering as well. This single vineyard blend is predominantly Pommard Clone with a smattering of a Rochioli field selection. Yields were greatly diminished after two years of drought. However, the little fruit we received ripened early with very concentrated flavors. Exudes ripe red cherry, raspberry, and violet aromas. Silky yet structured with almost candied fruit flavors of maraschino cherries, raspberry, and pomegranate with spicy notes of cinnamon red hots and hints of damp earth. Long on the finish with lingering fruit and spice. Aged for ten months in all French Oak barrels one-third new. Sterile filtered prior to bottling.
