RSM Vineyard Anderson Valley
A warm dry spring led to early bud break in 2014, and warm weather persisted throughout the vintage. The result was another early harvest, the third in a row. Drought conditions limited irrigation and reduced crop yields, but provided ripe fruit with concentrated flavors. Our 2014 RSM Pinot Noir offers aromas of boysenberry pie and mushroom broth, with hints of cardamom. Concentrated flavors of black cherry and mulberry, accompanied by savory accents of molasses and sea weed, finish with notes of dark sea salt caramels. The finish is persistent, with dark fruit focused by hints of acidity. This wine is supple and round on the palate, with decidedly structured tannins. It was aged for ten months in French oak barrels (33% new oak) then sterile filtered before bottling. With age this initially fruit forward style Pinot has become more Burgundian in style, exhibiting more savory and spicy notes. Perfectly cellared, this wine is ready to drink now or within the next 3 years.
