The fruit for this wine originates from the Walsh Vineyard located in the Yorkville Highlands, a region further inland and warmer than the Handley Estate. It was the first Pinot Noir we harvested in 2014. Aromas of strawberries, roses, with hints of anise, are followed by complex flavors of red cherries, strawberries, and a suggestion of nutmeg. The wine is full bodied with velvety tannins and a slightly spicy finish. Aging for 18 months in all French oak barrels (25% new) gives this Pinot a softer finish. The Walsh Vineyard fruit, in previous vintages, formerly went into Judson Hale Pinot Noir and those wines are available for purchase at the newly renovated Yorkville Market. Our 2014 Yorkville Highlands Pinot was sterile filtered prior to bottling.
