The Meyer Vineyard, located on a rolling ridge top above Booneville, has been lovingly tended by Bill and Gail Meyer for over 30 years. Yields are minimal, and with little water available for irrigation the gnarled old wines provide intense aromatics and concentrated flavors. A small amount of Semillon (16%) was blended with the Sauvignon Blanc to add weight and complexity. This wine refreshes like warm spring sun refracting off the condensation on your glass. It effuses aromas of citronella and Meyer lemon blossoms with slight musque' and cream notes. Bright flavors lemon lime, passion fruit, and kiwi bound form the glass. It is round and full on the palate yet mouthwatering. Edgy acidity contributed from the Sauvignon Blanc is countered by the oily unctuous character provided by the Semillon resulting in a lively sweet and sour interplay. The finish is long and persistent with its acidity cleansing the palate and focusing the persistent flavors of passion fruit. Mostly fermented in stainless steel with a small portion aged on the lees in neutral oak barrels. Its lively flavors and bright acidity allows it to pair well with the spice and fat of carnitas or fish tacos.
