Pinot Noir Rose
Estate Vineyard Anderson Valley
This wine is made from organically grown grapes sourced from our Estate block 5A Pinot Noir, Wadendswil 2A clone planted in 1990. The long cool 2018 vintage provided ripe fruit characters with high natural acidity. We gently destemmed and crushed the fruit into the press and allowed four hours of skin contact time. Fermented in stainless steel. After fermentation approximately 20% was racked to neutral oak barrels with yeast lees left over from fermentation. This portion, stirred and aged on the lees adds texture and roundness to the blend. Malolactic fermentation was avoided and the wine was sterile filtered prior to bottling. This refreshing wine expresses a purity of fruit accented by crisp acidity. Bottled fresh with a little effervescence, it exudes essences of freesias, cucumbers, and fresh strawberries. Round and full on the mid palate revealing flavors of watermelon, strawberries, and créme fraiche, and finishing with a crisp twist of lime.
