Pinot Noir Blanc
Handley Estate Vineyard, Anderson Valley
We are excited to share our first release of Pinot Noir Blanc, a white wine made from red Pinot Noir grapes. The fruit was sourced from our Handley Estate block 4 Roederer selection. We have made our sparkling wines from these organically farmed grapes and they work well because they are larger berries for a Pinot Noir selection providing bright fruit and acidity while contributing very little tannin. Cold whole cluster fruit was pressed very gently and stopped at the moment pink juice was noticed. Fermentation was initiated in tank and racked to neutral barrels to finish. This time in barrels on the lees helped to soften and integrate the natural acidity while avoiding malolactic fermentation. This wine shows aromas of cherry blossoms and wild ginger with yellow fruit flavors of Ranier Cherries, orange, and white peach. A velvety texture reminiscent of a red Pinot Noir and finishes with zesty wet stone.
