2021
Pinot Noir
Helluva Vineyard, Anderson Valley
The 2021 vintage started with a warm spring and early bud break. Temperatures were somewhat moderate in Anderson Valley, but a light crop due to consecutive years of drought resulted in an early pick. Helluva Vineyard is located at the warmer end of the Valley near Boonville and is always our first Pinot Noir picked. A blend of two clones of Pinot Noir: Pommard (54%) and Rochioli (46%) showing aromas of apples blossoms, candied cherries, and baking spices. The blend is marked by forward red fruit flavors including Bing cherries, cola, caramel, and nutmeg with a hint of cinnamon spice on the finish. A rich and supple mouthfeel with notable acidity carrying the persistent red cherry fruit cinnamon spice finish. Aged for 10 months in all French Oak barrels (33% new).
