2021
Pinot Noir
Roderick Ranch Vineyard, Anderson Valley
The 2021 vintage got off to an early start with warm spring weather. Crop levels were light after successive years of drought and harvest came early. This small family-owned vineyard located in the extreme Deep End is planted with a mix of Dijon clones 115 and 777 and is always one of the last vineyards to be harvested in Anderson Valley. This is the second vintage employing only organic farming practices to begin its three-year transition to becoming organically certified by CCOF. This offering is medium-bodied, showing aromas of rose petals, damp earth, and hibiscus tea with resinous piney notes. Flavors of Rainier cherries, cranberries, rhubarb, and hibiscus tea, with hints of cardamom. Smooth on the palate with crisp acidity framing the refined finish. Aged for 10 months in all French Oak barrels (33% new).
