2023 Sauvignon Blanc Mendocino

2023
Sauvignon Blanc
Mendocino

Our Sauvignon Blanc saga continues to evolve. In 2023, we were fortunate to source grapes from two vineyards, Meyer (17%) in Anderson Valley and Haiku (83%) in the Ukiah Valley. Located in the hills above Boonville, Meyer Vineyard and has been part of our program for several vintages We were excited to source Sauvignon Blanc from Haiku, a vineyard we previously worked with. The deep alluvial soils along the Russian River and warm weather provides ideal conditions for this varietal to flourish. Fermentation was started in stainless-steel tanks and then racked while still fermenting to neutral oak barrels to age for 4 months. The wine was stirred on the yeast lees to soften and enhance fullness on the palate. Malolactic fermentation was discouraged to preserve fresh fruit flavors. Showing notes of citrus blossoms, passion fruit, and thyme. Flavors of pineapple, passion fruit, and ripe honeydew melon. Full on the on the palate, with creamy and crisp acidity framing hints of lemon zest on the finish.
